Pulao Masala Powder is a spice mix used to flavor an Indian rice dish called Pulao. The ingredients and measures used differs as per our personal preference. Pulao masala powder enhances the flavor of the dish. This Pulao Masala Powder Recipe is very simple and easy to make. To begin with first add all the whole spices to pan dry roast for 3-5 mins in low flame. No need for color change, nice aroma will start to come, switch off. Cool down completely the transfer to a mixer jar and grind it a fine powder. Store in a clean dry container.

1.1.To begin first add the spices listed under ‘for pulao masala’. 2.Dry roast for 3-5 mins or until it gives nice aroma. No need to wait for color change. 3.Transfer to a plate and set aside to cool. 4.Add it to a grinder and grind it to a fine powder. Cool down then store in a clean dry container.

Expert Tips

Dry roast spices until nice aroma comes. Make sure to dry roast in low flame. Use a dry mixer jar to grind. Always use a clean dry spoon. You can store this for at least 3-4 months in room temperature. You can skip red chillies if you prefer and add chilli powder while making pulao. I added very little chillies only while making the spice mix. Not only for pulao you can add this with a simple tempering and toss it along with rice for a nice flavorful pulao in minutes. I would recommend to add the ingredients as mentioned to get the exact flavor.

Storage

Pulao Masala Powder keeps well for about 3-4 months in room temperature itself. If you want to store beyond that refrigerate it and it will keep well for up to a year.

1.What is the difference between biryani masala powder and pulao masala powder?

Biryani masala powder is more strong with more masala flavor while pulao masala powder is mild. Though most of the ingredients are same for both the flavor and taste sure differs.
