What are Masala Nuts

Masala nuts are a flavorful and aromatic snack made by roasting a variety of nuts with a blend of masala, which refers to a mix of Indian spices. The combination of roasting and the infusion of spices creates a savory, slightly spicy, and well-seasoned taste that is popular in many cultures, especially in Indian cuisine. These savory nuts along with Candied Cashews, Crispy Kidney Beans are on repeat in my kitchen. They are perfect as an afternoon snack with a cup of hot Ginger Tea, an on-the-go snack, and perfect for game nights, movie nights, on charcuterie boards, or as appetizers. A must-have when you are hosting an Indian Party.

Tips and variations

Make sure to bake the nuts at a low temperature and stir them a couple of times so they are lightly browned for the perfect toasty, buttery, and earthy nuts. Every oven works differently so keep an eye on the nuts for the last few minutes. Love spicy nuts? Substitute half of the Kashmiri chili powder with spicy chili powder or cayenne.

Air Fryer Masala Nuts

You can also make these masala nuts in the air fryer. Simply add the nuts coated with spices to the air fryer and air fry at 300 F for 8 to 10 minutes shaking the basket halfway through. Tip: Air fry in two batches so the nuts are not overcrowded.
