About Fried Onion
Fried Onion is strings of onion deep fried to golden brown and crisp. Make these and storing can save a lot of time as fried onion can be used in a variety of dishes which includes biryani, pulao, curry, gravy, salad, soup, casserole etc. Fried Onion is very popular in South Asian and Western cuisine. The best part is you can freeze it for months and use it. Grinding little of fried onion to a paste and adding it to curries / gravies elevates the taste of the dish. You get fried onions readily available in stores but most of the times they can re use oil for frying which gives it a rancid smell which is not healthy too. So I always prefer to make fried onions at home.
