Cardamom tea is my favorite though I usually prefer coffee to tea but hubby loves this tea or even masala tea. Though I am a coffee person I love to have tea once in a while especially during winter evenings. Nothing can par with the feel of a hot cup of chai in the evening sitting relaxed in a balcony.

About Cardamom Tea

Cardamom Tea is very simple and easy to make. It is just like making a simple tea but with ginger cardamom flavor which elevates the taste of this tea. This Cardamom tea has a wonderful aroma which you will love for sure. Tea or Chai is a popular Indian drink. Generally tea is made with dairy milk but you can make it vegan but substituting with cashew milk or almond milk or oats milk or soya milk etc. Tea can be made in 2 ways one by directly adding tea powder to milk and boiling it and other is making a tea concoction with water then mixing it with milk. You can even make tea without adding milk. Black tea flavored with ginger and cardamom is also a great option for those who are fond of milk tea. Cardamom Tea provides a relief from common cold and gives a soothing sensation after drinking it. Cardamom Tea is a must try at home as an alternate to the regular tea and particularly during sick times.

Expert Tips

Cardamom – Add only green cardamom for this tea. Tea powder – I usually use a mix of tea powders one for color and another for flavor and store it. You can use your choice of tea powder. If you want strong tea add 2 teaspoon and for a mild tea add only 1 and 1/2 teaspoon tea powder. Also let for a short boil for mild tea and a long boil for strong tea. Milk – Use fresh full cream milk for best results. The amount of milk added is your choice. If you mild flavored tea then add 1.5 cups of milk. Sugar – You can also add sugar at the final stage after switching it off. Making tea – You can add tea powder directly in milk itself and make tea but be careful while adding ginger as there are chances for milk to curdle while adding directly.

Serving & Storage

Serve cardamom chai with any snack especially any deep fried crispy snack such as pakoda, vada would be apt with ginger tea. Plain marie biscuits with tea is a great combination too. I wouldn’t recommend storing tea and serving so always make it fresh and serve. If you want to take it for travel, you can make cardamom tea pour in a flask and it keeps well for about 4-5 hours.

1.Can I make cardamom tea without ginger?

Yes you can make cardamom tea without adding ginger. Just crush 2 cardamom and add it for a pure cardamom flavored tea.

2.What milk to use?

Use full cream milk or half toned milk for best tasting tea. As we are adding water to make tea concoction the milk added should be thick to compensate else the tea would become watery.

3.When is the best time to drink cardamom tea?

You can drink this tea anytime of the day but the best time to drink is in the morning as it charges tour metabolism. You can also have it in the evenings but I would not recommend having it night as you will have difficulty in getting sleep.
