What is Black Tea?

Black tea is a tea made without milk with just tea powder and water. It is made usually without any sweetener but if is your preference to use sweetener or not. You can choose to use healthy alternate to white sugar such as honey or brown sugar. Black tea is made from the leaves of a bush called Camellia sinensis. The process of making black tea includes withering tea leaves then oxidizing them completely before drying. Oxidation is chemical reaction which exposes tea leaves to oxygen which makes it change color, aroma and flavor. So always use black tea powder to make black tea to enjoy the full benefits. Generally Black Tea is popular throughout the world and has a lot of variations. The popular Black tea varieties include Darjeeling, Assam, Ceylon, Keemun etc. Black tea is commonly used as a base for many flavored teas. Black Tea is very easy and healthy to make. How to make Perfect Black Tea

To begin with first boil water well. When it starts to boil rigorously, add tea powder. Let it boil for 2-3 mins, switch off. Remove from flame, keep closed for 2 mins for the flavors to steep in. Now to a serving cup add sugar, strain and add black. Mix well and it is ready to serve. Serve hot!

Black tea powder – You can buy any black tea powder of your choice – Assam or Darjeeling etc. Water – Use regular drinking water. Sweetener – Sugar is purely optional. I have used cane sugar for making this black tea.

How to make Black Tea Step by Step

1.To begin with first boil water well. 2.Add tea powder. 3.Boil for at least 3 mins. 4.The color changes to darker shade. 5.Look at the color. 6.Switch off. 7.Remove from flame, close with lid and set aside for few mins for all the flavors to steep in. 8.Now add sugar. I used cane sugar. You can use honey or brown sugar or skip it too. 9.Strain and add black tea to it. 10.Mix well. 11.Add to serving glass. Serve hot!

Expert Tips

Do not boil for longer time which will give a bitter taste. Tea powder can be of your choice. You can add tea leaves or tea powder. I like mine with a dash of sweetness but its your personal preference. If adding honey add it finally while serving mix and serve. Variations : Basic black tea has just tea powder, sugar and water. But there are a lot of variations: You can add honey and lemon to make honey lemon tea. You can make it strong or light based on your liking. Adjust tea powder accordingly. Add more spices like cardamom, cinnamon to make it more flavorful. You can infuse many flavors like strawberry, vanilla etc. For sweeteners you can add either honey or sugar or brown sugar or cane sugar or palm jaggery too – it depends on your taste.

Serving and Storage

You can have it 2 times a day to have a healthy refreshing day. Always serve hot! I would recommend to make it fresh and consume for best strong flavor.
