Jun 04, 2024 Dive into these 18+ Mexican dessert recipes – they’re all equally delicious, and you can’t take a wrong turn here. A sponge cake soaked in three types of milk (evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream), topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries. A creamy caramel custard dessert made with eggs, milk, sugar, and vanilla, baked in a water bath and served chilled. This fried choux pastry is the same as we use to make French Crullers (you can steal my method from that article I wrote for Chatelaine). They’re dusted with cinnamon sugar, often served with chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping. This recipe, however, is for churros made in an air fryer.  You’re welcome! Mexican rice pudding is made with rice, milk, and sugar and flavored with cinnamon and sometimes vanilla or citrus zest. Crispy fried dough sprinkled with cinnamon sugar or drizzled with syrup, honey, or piloncillo (unrefined whole cane sugar) syrup.  I recommend serving them like this in a stack with a steaming cup of coffee. These have to be some of my favorite Mexican desserts.  A traditional Mexican bread pudding made with layers of bread, cheese, nuts, and banana. I love the texture and layers in this dish. The banana gives it such a sunny taste – you’ve got to make this homey dessert. Buttery, crumbly cookies made with flour, sugar, and ground nuts and flavored with cinnamon or anise. These cookies are much loved at special events, as the name goes.  They’re very similar to my Greek Christmas Cookies (a true fan favorite). A moist and dense cake made with sweet corn, sugar, eggs, and butter, with a ‘lil touch of vanilla. Although it’s not traditional, I love this served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.  Sweet turnovers filled with fruit preserves, caramel, or sweetened cream cheese, then baked or fried until golden brown. Serve them with a steaming cup of Mexican hot chocolate! Marzipan candies are made with ground nuts and sugar, sometimes flavored with cinnamon or vanilla, and shaped into small decorative figures. A thick and creamy caramel sauce made from sweetened caramelized goat’s milk. It can be drizzled over desserts, spread on toast, or used as a filling for pastries.  It’s a dream-make it immediately and keep a batch in the refrigerator. I love cajeta so much that I had to include a vegan-friendly recipe, for all my no-dairy lovers.  Here’s a silky, rice version of this sweet treat featuring zero dairy. It’s a layered dessert consisting of chocolate cake on the bottom and creamy flan on top, baked in a bain marie. When inverted after baking, the layers magically switch places, hence its nickname “impossible cake.” These little puff balls are irresistibly delicious – they will not last! They are super easy to make and will be an absolute hit. Made with only 8 ingredients and surprisingly little skill! I love the crust of cinnamon sugar up top of these cheesecake wedges. A Mexican version of eggnog, rompope is a rich and creamy alcoholic dessert drink made with milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and rum. It’s usually served chilled and garnished with cinnamon or nutmeg. Sweet potato candies originating from Puebla, Mexico. The sweet potatoes are cooked in a syrup made from piloncillo (unrefined whole cane sugar) and flavored with cinnamon and cloves, resulting in a soft and chewy treat. The little hit from the chili powder is so sassy – pour it over ice cream, baked apples, fresh fruits, serve it with a slice of chocolate cake, tart or ANY of your celebration treats really – it’s so good!
